Tribe Development is a co-development partner to the Maryvale Energy from Waste project located at Opal Australian Paper’s Maryvale Paper Mill in southeastern Victoria in partnership with Opal, Veolia and Masdar.
Maryvale EfW will provide a sustainable and innovative waste management solution for households and businesses in Victoria by recovering energy from their non-recyclable waste to help power the Maryvale Paper Mill.
Diverting the residual waste from landfill will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while the direct offtake of steam and electricity will reduce Opal’s natural gas consumption by over 33%.
Given its unique integration into manufacturing at the Maryvale Paper Mill, the project is supported by A$48.2m in grant funding from the Australian Government through the Modern Manufacturing Initiative.
