Ed Nicholas heads Tribe’s Development arm and is a clear leader in the Energy-from-Waste sector in Australia. He is responsible for identifying early-stage project opportunities as well as navigating complexities to advance projects to successful implementation with Tribe's project partners.
OVERVIEW
Over the last 9 years, Ed has advanced the development of three major Energy-from-Waste developments in Australia with a combined value in excess of A$3.5Bn. In 2019 he led the financing of the East Rockingham Energy-from-Waste and later served on its board and as chairman. He leads the Maryvale Energy-from-Waste Project in Victoria as well as the Parkes Eergy Recovery Project in New South Wales. All three projects will have a major impact on the way Australia deals with residual waste.
Prior to joining Tribe in early 2016, he worked with Mubadala Investment Company for eight years, where he served as the General Counsel, Industry. He has a strong background in emerging markets, having led numerous multi-billion dollar M&A, project finance and joint venture transactions across Europe, the MENA region, and South East Asia for Mubadala.
Prior to this, Ed held senior legal roles with BlueScope Steel (Port Kembla, Australia), DFDL Mekong (Phnom Penh, Cambodia) and Clayton Utz (Sydney, Australia).
Ed holds a BA in French and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), both from the University of Sydney, and is admitted to practice as a Solicitor in the State of New South Wales, Australia.
